How We Met

Her Version:

How I Met Mark (a.k.a. the man of my dreams): A Fairy Tale Come True

Once upon a time, a princess who loved hockey (and her adorable fluffy dog, Scooter) dreamed of sharing her life with a prince who shared the same interests and passions as her.

When the princess started a new job at a local Internet marketing agency, on day one, she was instantly captivated when her boss introduced her to a prince named Mark – even though the first thing she heard about him was “that’s Mark, the guy who really likes Internet Explorer.” She instantly felt like she could see forever in his eyes, even though they had just met only moments earlier.

Luckily for the princess, she ended up sitting in the cubicle across from the prince, and they became fast friends. They quickly found that they shared many similar interests, such as enjoying music by the Lonely Island, being physically active – and gasp! – hockey.

The princess soon realized that she had a crush on the prince, and found herself looking for a good excuse to spend time with the prince.
She checked the prince’s Twitter account, and discovered that he wanted to see the same cinematic masterpiece that was on the top of her list of movies to see – “Bad Grandpa.” She suggested to the prince that the two friends see the movie together so that they “wouldn’t have to see it alone.” She felt like that was a totally smooth move, and thankfully, he said “yes.”

After they saw the movie, the two walked and talked around the mall for hours, and the princess felt like she was on cloud nine! She had never been so happy just walking around a mall without buying any cute outfits or neat tech toys.

When she gushed to a mutual friend about how her “hangout session with a friend, the prince” went so well and that she really, really liked him, her friend told her something that made her beam from ear-to-ear. The feelings were mutual! “OMG. HE LIKES ME TOO!!!,” exclaimed the princess!

Fast forward two weeks, and the princess and prince went on their first date… and they’re living happily ever after… with her adorable fluffy dog. 🙂

His Version:

I’ll never forget the introduction my boss at the time made as she introduced me to Beth, saying; “I was the only guy who used Internet Explorer…” and who knows what else – I’m partially obsessed with all-things-Microsoft. She wasn’t fazed by that as we sat directly across from one another and very quickly realized we both loved hockey as much as the other…I thought how is that possible?! Yes, she was a Sabres fan, but fate clearly brought us together as we had matching Zamboni’s on our desks. Then she was also a fan of The Bloodhound Gang, Lonely Island, and likes lives to run.

It was a short career for her at LocalEdge in Buffalo, after about two weeks of working there she put her notice in. I don’t remember how I felt at the time, probably upset more than anything, but happy for her to venture to a new opportunity. I figured we would keep in touch, but didn’t think she was spying on my Twitter account to make plans with me as I eagerly looked for someone to watch “Bad Grandpa” with me.

The challenge would be how things went hanging out as friends, as I had just moved to Buffalo four months prior with a new job, new car, new apartment – basically to start things out new and see where life takes me. It was clearly the best decision I had made and then eventually so was asking her the big question.
