6:00 p.m.: Ceremony
6:30 – 7:30 p.m.: Cocktail hour
7:30 – 11:30 p.m.: Reception

2. Where should I stay?

Check out our accommodations page for hotel and rental car information.

3. Where can I park? Is parking free?

Free parking is available in front of our venue, the Amore Building, at the Avanti Mansion. A sign will be located at the entrance along South Park Avenue indicating that you’re making the right turn for the Silverman/Gruber wedding.

4. Will there be transportation to/from the hotel to the venue?

Yes! A complimentary shuttle will be offered for our guests from the Courtyard by Marriott to the Avanti Mansion, then back to the hotel at the end of the night. More information on the accommodations page.

5. I have a food allergy, what can I do?

Fear not! We’ll be happy to pass along that information to the Avanti Mansion. Please contact us by Friday, May 26, 2017, so that we can relay that information to the caterer at our venue.

6. Can I bring our children?

We respectfully request that you leave children at home. We want everyone to have a wonderful worry-free time and for your little ones to remain safely at home!

This will be an adults-only event, so hire a babysitter and get ready to party!

7. How can I RSVP? When is the deadline?

Guests will receive an RSVP card and envelope with their wedding invitations, which will be sent in 2017. The RSVP deadline will be Friday, May 5, 2017.

8. Where are you registered?

We are currently registered at Bed Bath & Beyond and Amazon. Click below:

9. Does your wedding have a theme?

Yes! Since we love hockey almost as much as we love each other (and our dog, Scooter), our wedding will have a hockey theme and maybe a few hockey surprises 🙂

10. Is there a dress code?

Our big day’s dress code is semi-formal, but be sure to pack some comfortable shoes so you can bust a move on the dance floor at our reception! If you need clarification, please feel free to contact us.

11. What can I do while I visit Buffalo?

There’s plenty to do during a weekend stay at the second most populated city in New York and surrounding areas. Here’s a few of our favorite spots:

Beth’s Picks:

It’s tough to come up with just a few things to do while in Buffalo, since there’s something for everyone – whether you’re into parks, the arts, sports, enjoying the nightlife, food, or some fantastic combination of those things. Here are my top suggestions:

  1. Canalside: This recently-developed area in Buffalo features hundreds of events throughout the year, including many free activities. Paddle and pedal boat rentals are available during the summer, and it’s awesome to go for a stroll along Lake Erie – and possibly take in the smell of Cheerios from the nearby General Mills plant! I urge you to check out all of the things to do in this scenic area! Bonus: if you’re staying at the Courtyard Marriott, then this is right across the street from your hotel!
  2. Check out the craft beer scene. It’s official: Buffalo is #2 on the list of the top cities in the country for beer lovers. Flying Bison Brewing Company, Resurgence Brewing Company, and Big Ditch Brewing Company are among the many great breweries to check out in Western New York! If you’re traveling with a larger group of friends, then you could spice things up by renting the Consumer’s Craft Cruiser. It’s a fun way to enjoy a night on the town! They have a route at Canalside, so this is perfect if you’re staying at the nearby Courtyard Marriott!
  3. Bonus: Eat food from Lloyd taco truck. There are four trucks that sell lunch and dinner daily across Western New York. Check out their schedule for locations. Make it your mission to eat at least one taco from Lloyd. You won’t regret it, as the food is so delicious. Trust me… Mark and I are pretty much obsessed, and encourage one another with our continued worship of Lloyd/consumption of their mouth-watering food over the years. That’s a sign of true love. You can also check out their brick-and-mortar restaurant too, if your schedule permits. Lloyd’s owners were the big winners on CNBC’s “Restaurant Startup” in February 2015, and received a $250,000 investment from investors that helped make their first restaurant a reality. A comprehensive listing of things to do, places to eat, etc., can be found on Visit Buffalo Niagara’s website.

Mark’s Picks:

  1. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is going to Pearl Street Grill & Brewery in downtown Buffalo, and walking to a Buffalo Bisons baseball game. You’re in luck as the Bisons will be in town the weekend of the wedding! Hopefully you’ll decide to go on Friday night or Sunday afternoon.
  2. Something you can’t do anywhere else in the world is checking out the gorgeous Niagara Falls State Park from the US or Canadian side. It’s much easier and quicker to go to the American side of the falls, but you get a very different perspective from the Canadian side if you have a passport. It takes about an hour to the American side, and plan for at least 90 minutes to the Canadian side as you’ll need to go through the border crossing. On a state park related idea and my all time favorite park in the Northeast, is the very lesser known Letchworth State Park. There are no border crossing lines, very few people know about it as it’s in the middle of nowhere. It’s just over an hour or so from Buffalo but I’d highly recommend it.
  3. Bonus: What’s Buffalo without wings?! Two of the original locations are Anchor Bar, located in downtown Buffalo and Duff’s, with three locations scattered around the area with one right here in Orchard Park. If you don’t go to either of the restaurants that pretty much started it, that’s okay. Pretty much every single restaurant in Buffalo has their own version of the wing and you really can’t go wrong. Another top choice very close by, are the delicious smoked wings from Armor Inn & Tap Room.

12. What are your wedding colors?

Marine Blue & Tea Rose

13. I love your photos! Who took them?

Thank you! Mark would love to toot his own horn on a lot of the random shots over the years, so check out his online portfolio. The engagement photos featured in our rotating banner were done by FCI Photography at a few different locations. Be sure to also view the engagement photo album. FCI Photography will also be our featured shooters on the big day! While we’re eager for everyone to share their photos from our big day using #hockeyhoniesgethitched, we respectfully request that our guests do not interfere with FCI Photography.
